I can't say Southeast Louisiana will be sorry the little storm missed. Everyone is just dying to test out the repairs to the New Orleans levee system. Literally dying, I say. The wind would have been nice, but who wants to tempt fate to take the edge off the heat? Hasta la vista, Edouard, so glad we didn't meet.
It looks like either Josh Marshall took the day off, or TPM has a faulty feed today. I suppose I could actually go the website to find out what's up. A day without Marshall's biting wit somehow seems addled. Ah well, there's always the vast glut of stories at The Huffington Post and Alternet to pass the time.
A friend of mine told me I should probably disable comments here if I don't ever plan on responding to them. My response was a shrug of my shoulders. In fact, I have never even checked to see if there are comments, and probably never will. A big fat paycheck for doing this would probably change my attitude about it. Somebody tell Exxon and Hess I am prepared to completely sell out to their cause in exchange for lump payments of $26,000. I'll even respond to comments (after the checks clear).
I greatly wanted to write a dozen pages of brilliantly acidic and bitter commentary today, but it just wasn't in the cards. I spent seven hours experimenting with Squids, SSL, GPG and MD5 transmissions. The work necessary to make yourself invulnerable to spies or attacks on the Internet can be very addictive. I went so deep into the Squids that it took me hours to restore my system to the normalcy required to post here.
Regardless of the fact that I have been using the same IP address for years, amid years of lack of any security measures at all, I still just enjoy learning. Very addictive. My favorite part is when you do an https search and it comes back in a foreign language, because the server thinks you are in Indonesia or somewhere. Now if I could just read every language.
Have a nice day, to anyone who happens upon this.
I'll be an asshole to the right wing again tomorrow, never fear.
